Twin Cities Instrument Flight Training

We are one of only two Chapter 141 schools in the Twin Cities area. Therefore, each of our instrument training courses is FAA-approved and follow strict industry standards and regulations. Our team of flight instructors has the experience and training necessary to help you meet your flight objectives regardless of your skill level or educational needs. Select the Cessna C172S, the Piper Warrior II, or jump into the glass cockpit of the Cirrus SR20 as your training aircraft.

Prerequisites:

  • Hold a Private Pilot Certificate
  • Be able to read, speak, and understand the English language
  • Hold a valid medical certificate
  • Complete Written Exam

Flight Requirements:

Part 61

  • 50 hours cross country flight time as the pilot in command
  • 10 hours must be in airplanes for an instrument airplane rating
  • 40 hours actual or simulated instrument time
  • 15 hours of instrument flight training from an authorized flight instructor
  • One cross-country flight in an airplane that is performed under IFR conditions and consists of:
    • a distance of at least 250 nm
    • an instrument approach at each airport
    • three different kinds of approaches with the use of navigation systems
  • 10 hours may be in an approved PCATD simulator

Part 141

Students who enroll in Twin Cities Flight Training Airplane 141 Instrument program will complete all FAR prerequisite requirements by completing the Instrument Course Syllabus. The Syllabus calls for 35 hours of flight time and most students complete the program in under 40 hours of flight time.
