Owning an aircraft comes with many responsibilities, including completing the routine maintenance that is required for all aircraft. The Federal Aviation Administration publishes required maintenance in their publication, FAR 91 Subpart E, which spells out in detail what inspections are required, what tests of avionics and other aircraft accessories are required, and even how an owner must maintain the records for maintenance performed. The FAA takes it a step further in FAR 43, where it is spelled out in detail what must be inspected for each inspection to be considered complete.
